Jacqueline
Jacqueline Alumni,
I was impressed with the level of specialization each of my professors had in their area of expertise. Even more, I was impressed by their passion. Every professor went above and beyond to share their knowledge with me, inside and outside the classroom.

I most valued the opportunity to travel around the city and country with professors who had intimate knowledge of the places we visited. I learned more about Senegal by going on road trips and talking with my professors than I could have ever done if I was visiting the country by myself. I loved each of the cities we visited, and our travels definitely kept things interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed each of my lectures and wish I had had more time to follow up on them before our five weeks were up. I appreciated the different topics they covered and that they all contributed to my understanding of my firsthand experiences in Senegal.

Zhihao
Zhihao Alumni,
The connections I have made with the co-participants, professors, and Senegalese peers will have immense impact on my future, and are memories to treasure for life.

I went to Senegal this past summer with The Dakar Institute of African Studies for 5 weeks at a really reasonable cost. I got to expand my worldview and got exposed to things outside of my immediate familiarities quite a bit. The connections I have made with the co-participants, professors, and Senegalese peers will have immense impact on my future, and are memories to treasure for life. I recommend this program to anyone who craves for a transformative summer experience abroad and who are looking to learn more about the world, themselves, and their potential.

Arame Alumni,
This program is not like any other study abroad program in Africa because you leave with a modern narrative paradigm. You leave knowing that Africa is not a poor and backward continent but instead Africa is the proposition. Africa is the thesis.

I did this program last summer. Some of the smartest professors I have ever had are at DIAS. I would go to my classes and leave stunned every time. Please apply and I promise you will not regret it. You have the opportunity to engage in a meaningful internship, study Wolof (and communicate with me), and go on really fun excursions around the country. If you are looking for a reflective learning experience that challenges your perspective on the world and opens you up to a whole new frame of mind then this program is for you.

I spent the past summer in Senegal with the Dakar Institute of African Studies. If you are looking for a reflective learning experience that challenges your perspective on the world and opens you up to a whole new frame of mind then this program is for you. I use this experience pretty well every day of my life. The people you will meet and the conversations you could have are nothing like you could ever experience anywhere else.

Nicole Alumni,
The classes are incredibly interesting and unlike any you'll be able to take in the States. If you choose to do an internship, the founders of DIAS personally find the perfect internship for you that caters to exactly what you're studying and want to do for a living.

I studied and interned in Dakar last summer through DIAS and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve never been to such a welcoming place filled with such friendly people before, and the food was out of this world. I couldn’t recommend this higher, it was one of the highlights of my college experience.
